I get it that you are dutch and want to keep for yourself the best opponents. Isn't that a little selfish ? :)

Germany has always had a strong team, but their results lately haven't been that impressive. I agree with Raoul on Italy (and anyone down to Hungary, really). I don't know how Macedonia are compared to Belarus, so I'll avoid commenting that :P
As far as France goes, it seems to be quite easy to draw against them ;) So I would be more worried about Netherlands myself :P
I haven't added my own country in as I don't feel we'd be the worst in that seed group. |

| I am indeed Dutch, but the only reason I chose the Netherlands for my group of death was that they are currently ranked #1 in Europe by FIFA (and #2 in the world), and they did qualify with the best record (in percentage of points gained) in Europe. As for the other choices, I don't know every country's FIFA ranking off-hand so I chose ones that I thought were the toughest-looking in those groups given recent performances. In the second group it was a close call between Italy, Spain and Croatia for me... Please don't take this as favouring my own country, I really don't want to start any such discussions. I'm sure we all have our own opinions about who we think are best... |

Sorry if I was misunderstood, it was supposed to be a joke : I just chose the toughest remaining team in each pot after your "draw" for Netherlands.
You know, France will start the 2008 qualification campaign with a young new team with no experience ; so being in the 1st pot must be seen as an unexpected (and probably undeserved) chance
By the way, I really enjoy both your website and your blog. You really do a good and useful job. |
