In the CONCACAF region, Guatemala know that anything but a win in Mexico would gift Costa Rica their place in the finals even if they themselves were to lose at home to the United States. Equally, a win for Costa Rica at home would also end Guatemala's hopes for the automatic place. Trinidad and Tobago can now only reach the playoffs and they would give themselves an excellent chance if they win their match away to Panama.
