2007-04-18 - 2012 European Championship - Poland / Ukraine
Well done UEFA for having the balls to go with another candidate than Italy. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Italy wouldn't have been a good host, which I'm sure they would have been as they've organised tournaments before and obviously have the stadiums, but to choose a newcomer and to quite obviously point the finger at the corruption scandal from last summer is just common sense. What surprises me though is that the voting was apparently 8 (for Poland / Ukraine) to 4 (for Italy) and 0 (for Croatia / Hungary). I would have assumed it would have been closer between the three and I would have expected some votes for the latter combination. Perhaps there were some voting agreements in place, but in the end it meant that only one vote was necessary probably because the total number of votes for Italy was less than expected. Maybe it means that if Croatia and/or Hungary bid for the next tournament that they'll get support from those they helped to support this time around, who knows? Anyway, congratulations to Poland / Ukraine!

| I am Polish and Poland will benefit extremely from the money for infrastructure.This is an intregration for Eastern Europe,they have paid their dues and now are rewarded.Thank God thank all.Thanks for your awesome site,we hope you start posting results again. |
